This year I decided to join the cast of a couple of local productions that Flashback Theater Company has put on and the current one I am working on is Pirates of Penzance. In this production I get to play Samuel the pirate lieutenant, a sister, and a cop at various points. This is a small local theater that provides opportunities for local talent and helps develop the talent of the local youth. Below is the posting from FbTC Facebook page...
Meet the cast of Pirates of Penzance! Mandy Hieatt plays a variety of characters including Samuel, the Pirate King’s lieutenant. Rick Winstead also plays a variety of characters including a pirate, a policeman, and a daughter of the Major General.
Mandy Hieatt is excited to be returning to Flashback Theater Co. after appearing earlier this season as Daisy in Boats Against The Current. She is an accomplished musician, participating in several local musical organizations. Mandy owns and operates Mandy Hieatt Services where she provides accounting and tax services, music lessons, and other services. In 2014 she obtained her MBA in Accounting from St. Leo University. During her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband on their alpaca farm.
This is Rick Winstead's first on-stage appearance with Flashback Theater Co. He has been on board as a bassist on multiple occasions with Flashback and McNeil Music Center over the past few years. Rick lives in Science Hill and first became involved with musical performance around the age of eleven.

Recently I had an epiphany when it comes to my music and Reiki. Without thinking about it I now instinctively use Reiki to help me with my playing and singing. But this was not always the case. For a long time I would keep the two things separate with the feelings that they were indeed very separate things and should not be mixed.
After a while I realized that Reiki helps with many areas of my life, so why not give it a go with my music. I worked hard to figuring out how to use Reiki with music, what works and what doesn’t'. Once I figured these things out I kept doing them but was not sharing them. Reiki helps keep me relaxed and in tune with my body. This helps with my posture, my energy flow, and my connection with the music. Once all this falls into place I am able to recognize when something has become out of balance and instantly fix what is out of balance. It has taken practice but when I remember to start my practice with Reiki I am able to have a more productive practice session.
This is where the epiphany comes in. I realized that sharing how to apply the concepts of Reiki to musicians would help a lot of musicians out there. Then self-doubt kicked in and I thought that if I realized this then someone else must have realized it as well. My initial search did not find anyone offering such as class, now I may be wrong in this and welcome other Reiki Masters that are musicians to also offer such a class.
With great joy and love in my heart I now offer Reiki for the Musician. This is a two day intensive class where you will learn Usui Reiki I & II as well has how to apply the principles of Usui Reiki to your musical practice. This class will help many musicians to relax and learn to recognize where there are issues within their own body so that they can start to improve their playing. It is with great joy, excitement, and love that I begin this journey.
